THE XXI NOSSIDE IN THE SIGN OF UNESCO
AND OF THE TRIUMPH OF LATIN AMERICA*

The exceptional results of the XXI Edition of the International Nosside attest that the great dream of the unique global Award of poetry is always closer to reality.
First of all the twofold prestigious recognition of UNESCO is arrived to the worldwide head office of Paris: the Bosio has been appointed as UNESCO Global Alliance for cultural diversity member (one of the three Italians). The ceaseless and consistent diligence founded on the local-global binominal that distinguishes the association since the foundation in 1978 has been rewarded. The Nosside Poetry Prize, principal project of Bosio (open to every world language and all kind of expressions) has been added to the authoritative Unesco World Poetry Directory.
Secondly, candidates passed from 307 of 2004 to 403 of 2005. Under the profile of mother Countries there has been almost a redoubling from 13 States of 2004 to 25 of 2005 (12 from Europe, 11 from Americas and 2 from Africa).
The Babel of languages has arrived to 20, from those widespread (Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese) to Grecanic smaller minorities of Reggio Calabria and to tschiluba of Congolese people in the heart of Africa.
The side of prizewinners has widened his horizons as well with the triumph of candidates from Latin America. The Overal Winner Rosa Silverio – born 27 years ago in Santiago de los Caballeros, in the Island of Santo Domingo – has moreover been the first not European. On her side – in the list of five Winners – Marissa Flora Arroyal from Venezuela, Fernanda Dannemann from Brazil and the Italian-Argentine Maria Cristina Pannunzio have successfully imposed themselves. The Italian Maria Carmela Errico from Cerignola and the Serbian and Montenegro poet Andrija Radulovic completed the list of Winners.
Among Special Mentioned a confirmation is the articulated participation of linguistic expressions from the three continents and the various forms of expressions (written, visual and musical poetries).
The reasons of this exceptional growth emerge from the same results. Indeed the disruptive strength of Nosside Project is that it has always carried out with coherence, reliability and impartiality the idea of poetry without boundaries of languages and forms of communication.
Thanks to this – and to the method of leaving the Jury to work on participants distinguished by a number – a poet of Reggio Calabria (head office of Bosio Studies Center, arranger and organizer engine of the Project) knows to have the same chances of one from a faraway country and that he would not enjoy any favoritism. And the participant from Chile or Tahiti knows to be equally evaluated with the one living in Reggio Calabria.
Therefore – by means of Nosside example – the global village of poetry is learning to know and appreciate the positive aspects of Bergamotto City, the citrus that she belongs in worldwide exclusive. The city that from the tip of the Boot has given a the name to Italy and among her jewelers a Seafront among the handsomest in the world and a National Museum of Magna Greece, one of the most precious of Europe.

IN THE “NOSSIDE 2005” AN HARDEN DIAGRAM OF CONTEMPORARY POETRY

The “Nosside 2005”, registering a special participation of worldwide authors, imposes itself as an harden exemplary diagram of contemporary poetry. Different styles and languages are tested, the most intriguing thematic meet: the wish of human being to be reflected in a crystal of enigmas, in a universe of images ready to multiply the unknown and his giddiness in the word: island and labyrinth, sound and silent, prompt communication and elaborate workshop remains the common denominator.
“Unique indivisible asset”, “lizard” observing remotely, the sadness is fleeting and wears out in a secret time: Rosa Silverio sings this unique and thin feeling in lyric of strong intimate Valency that, going from the stagnant swamp of inertia to the endless flight of dreams, succeeds in finding an “anchor”. Amazed by a cosmic shiver, Marissa Flora Arroyal descends in the “womb of the earth” and in the meantime in the time contractions every vision syllabizes a Holy light. From remote darkness of psyche these two lyrics emerge to the borderless magnitude of imaginary, of obsessions and revival.
But beside such line of upset events twists, with Fernanda Dannermann, the daily chronicle of the grey little world, all haunted and tired, of leafs and gardens, of a face in the window, among autumns and dying roses and eyes always fixed on the same points. The circle of minimal thing is unchangeable where anyway a story seems to expand to always remain the same. There are, then, in the short and stunned text of Maria Carmela Errico, the “shame” of sun within courts visited by the shadow, or, in the wider elegiac breath of Maria Cristina Pannunzio, the “amazement” so blazing to hide even Paradise. In the limited measure of a visual impression or in the modulate memorial cadence a rhythm of anxious research of objects becoming horizons increases. In this zone of universes surrendered to the roaming going of looks of solitaire figures break into - and this is the case of Andrija Radulovic poetry – the clamorous faces of a chorus. They and the gipsies scattering colours in the fields toning their song: Bandages and fires in a orgy of fugitive silhouettes with a “smell of spring”.
If proposals of winners of “Nosside” are allocated in a library of important literary level, also results of Special Mentions indicate the territory of an excellent expressive figure.
Strong lines glimpse that associate the full of meanings sign to organized structures with erudite strength. From the consciousness of irreplaceable function of poet, enounced by Giuseppe Ambrogio (“Sing poet and send a message / to many people which is dull and dumb…”) and from the awareness of their wild-eyeing, underlined by Patricia Cabezas (“But the light enters the abundance of your eyes…”), to the scenographic effects obtained by Ana Maria Gonzales (“Virile fury of your Indian body trembles, Uruguay, your golden mother of pearl cheek of sun and sky…”) and to the miniaturized report, by work of Fausta Genziana Le Piane, of an insignificant fact anyway arousing a perplexity status (“Accompanied by grandmother, / baby girl rattles, slowly / in the sidewalk…”) and to the unreal inventories, drafted by Fernanda Mulin de Assis, of existential engagements (“I scream, ask, cry in my soul, / to acts mitigating this people hating…”), various languages find, into the intense reasons of present problems, the expressive results more engaging: now spectacular, now decent and refolded.

Metaphor of visible bustle of dreams, the breeze of evening at riverside builds, in the lyrical speech of Thomas Mussenge, an intrigued tissue of annotations articulated by a variable song. To the “roots” that “walk from heart” Antonio Nucera refers pointing everything on memory and never disdaining some narrative excerpt. For Domenico Labate landscape and ideas melt in a dashing and heartfelt monolog, in which different tones melt in a unique borderline strip, between the not lived and the not thought.
The suave cadence of a sweet music, printed on a delicate and affecting image declines in a communicative text dedicated by Vittorio Merlo to a “little flower”. Bolder and slenderer in an anomalous rabble of emotions, other lyric and music, composed by Laura Seragusa, is intoned to the land as “thirst and crying” and shout wishing justice.

My Sadness

“Feeling alone is not being bereft of company.” This poetry, dark as autumn shadows and at the same time slight as petals tearing away from a rose, reveal the inner human and poetic dimension of this very young writer.
Her song attains the reign of angels and releases in solitaire flight of a swallow challenging, without the least fear, the predatory of night. In the garden of the poet flowers are withered and the spring has lost his colours. Perhaps remains only an exile spin of water which strenuously arrives to heart, unique harbour of hope where to dock to find answers or at least dreams.

My Sadness*

My sadness is mine, unique, egoist
I don’t want to share with nobody
And nobody is responsible for that.
It’s a lizard watching me from the roof
I see his taut tail and his small legs,
his eyes looking at none direction,
His dark and millenary serenity.
My sadness is something of one moment,
some day, one month,
one secret and solitaire time,
indeed when everybody see me smiling
i still lull this thin and gentle feeling
Which is lengthening as swan’s neck.
My sadness is a wave.
Sometime makes me falling and bring me in deep sea
I leave myself go… have I perhaps any other way-out?
I always open my arms when it is coming up against me
Storms don’t precede it, even rips, even unnecessary escapes
A natural tendency is in me,
A voluntary quietness in front of this way to be
that nobody can understand
And that doesn’t expect to be understood by the world
My sadness is a refuge in which I snuggle
When ships wreck and explosives burst
I sleep on its sine and forget the flying fishes,
Snake’s tongue and blue dragons.
My sadness is a pond and a bird,
My sadness is an anchor.
