ON THE UNESCO WORLD POETRY DAY

A MILE STONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE ONLY GLOBAL POETRY CONTEST WITH A MEMORABLE SUCCESS OF THE
PRESENTATION OF XXIII EDITION
AND OF THE AWARDING OF NOSSIDE LIFETIME
ACHIEVEMENT PRIZE TO CLAUDIO ANGELINI

"The event of March 21 (UNESCO WORLD POETRY DAY), at the seat of the Italian Institute of Culture in New York - that has had an organizing result and participation beyond all expectations - has represented for the Centre of Studies “Bosio” and for the Nosside International Poetry Prize a goal of exceptional relief, a mile stone in the history of the Project ".

With these words Claudio Angelini, a great name of the TV journalism and a poet of exquisite sensibility, awarded with Nosside Lifetime Achievement Prize in the written poetry field, has concluded the wonderful event that has definitively consecrated Nosside of Reggio Calabria (Italy) as only global poetry contest in the world.

This recognition has been as an echo to the considerations of founder President of “Bosio” and of the Nosside Prize, Pasquale Amato, a global historian and lecturer of History at the University of Messina as well as Co-coordinator of the " UNO New York " Project: " I am certain - he has underlined - this March 21 in the City of the Great Apple, city - world of our time, according to the thesis of the great historian Braudel, has marked the start of a new phase in the Nosside way to the world literary Prizes panorama.

This afternoon, dense of emotions - emphasized Amato - reinforced the double identity of intense ideal value of the Project: the opening to all the languages of the world, with a particular attention to the minority ones and those of the native people; and the multimedia that allows the participation at the contest with written, video and musical poetries .

The participation at the event of students of the Universities of Messina, Naples and Milan as well as students of other Universities of the world, delegates at the NMUN, UNO simulation Project, has exalted – sustained President Amato - the universal message of peace, of reciprocal respect and of equal dignity between cultures, ethnic groups and different languages of Nosside ".

The meeting has been opened by Claudio Angelini in the Director's quality of the Institute in the presence of Consul general of Italy Antonio Bandini and of personalities of the Italian and US culture and literature. A strong nucleus of journalists between whose Berardo Paradiso, Director of EItalia for USA and Franco Corrado, Director of the on-line periodical IlGiornaleItaloAmericano.com were presented at the event.

Apart from the wide representation of students, delegates at UNO, the managers of partner Associations of Universities of Catania and Milan -Acerformazione and UnmodelItaly respectively - have joined the event.

President Amato has illustrated the salient characters of XXIII Nosside Prize, assisted by the English version of the University of Messina students: Tatiana Vavachin (Head Delegate of Messina’s delegation at UNO as well as Co-ordinator of the Anglophone Area of Nosside) and Federica Violi (Delegate).

The reading (in Italian by Silvia Giampaola, Responsible for the Artistic Activities of the Institute, and by Tatiana Vavachin in English ) of the refined poem -" January "- of Nosside 2006 Overall Winner, Ana Lourdes de Heriz Ramon from Barcelona - Spain, the screening of outstanding work directed by Salvatore Canale - "I walk "- of 2006 NossideVideo Winner, Pino Amaddeo, as well as the screening of a video produced by Paolo Moscato on the song of 2006 NossideMusica Winner, Miguel Angel Ribó (the music of Iván Domínguez de la Hoz) - " Princes of silence "- have happily concluded the relation of Amato as well as have testified the multimedia of the Prize.

The “Princes of Silence” song - which video is being successful in the You Tube website – represents an appeal to the “powerful” of the world in order for them to face "not with words thrown to the wind " the drama of the million children in the streets who live on wits at the edges of rich cities.

The third part of the Event has been dedicated to the reintroduction of an idea that had been carried out in the Nineties: Nosside Lifetime Achievement Prize, assigned annually to three international personalities in the written, musical and video poetry fields.

The Nosside Lifetime Achievement Prize in the written poetry field was assigned to Silva Kaputikyan (Armenia) in 1989, Miquel Martí i Pol (Spain) in 1991 and Bella Achmadulina (Russia) in 1992. In New York, the Nosside Lifetime Achievement Prize has retaken his way with the awarding of the Prize to Claudio Angelini, "a poet of exquisite sensibility, highly esteemed and appreciate by the Nobel Prize Winner Salvatore Quasimodo and by other personalities of poetry world such as Mario Luzi and Jorge Luis Borgés ".
