XXIVth NOSSIDE 2008 Rules

1 - STRUCTURE
The XXIVth Nosside International Poetry Prize, designed to valorise unpublished works never awarded in other competitions, is open to all the languages of the world and to all the forms of expression.
The compositions can be written in one of five official languages of the prize
(Italian, Spanish, English, French and Portuguese)
as well as in any other language of the world
National Official Language (as German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Arab…);
Regional idiom or dialect;
Language of ethno-linguistic minority of whatever Country;
Original Language of indigenous people.
On only condition: Poems written in other languages along with their original versions are to be submitted in one of 5 official languages of the prize: Italian, Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
There are three Contest fields to take part in:
Written Poetry (submitting three poems on any subject, each one no more than 50 lines);
Video Poetry or computer graphic (video-clip of no more than 4 minutes, credit and end titles excepted);
Musical Poetry (auteur song).
To make a video-clip or a song the authors of the text compositions can be assisted by a director and/or a musician.

2 - PARTICIPATION
The applications are accepted from February, 5, 2008 till the June, 30, 2008.
The participation fees:
A Group citizens (the specific countries are indicated in the application form): 30 €uro
B Group citizens (the specific countries are indicated in the application form): 20 €uro
C Group citizens (the rest of the world): 10 €uro
The methods of payment are specified in the Application Form

the Subsequent Files:

- an word / rtf format file containing the Application Form (filled in) along with the indication of the method of payment made for the participation fee.
- for the Written Poetry a Microsoft Word / rtf format file containing the texts of three compositions.
- for the Video Poetry a Microsoft Word / rtf format file containing the text of the composition; alongside with the DVD / JPEG or Windows Media Player format file containing the video-clip.
- for the Musical Poetry (Song) a Microsoft Word rtf file containing the text of the composition and a MP3 format file containing the song.

- is permited only under the following conditions: the cover must be comprised of :
- a floppy disk or a CD containing the Application Form (filled in) as well as the texts of three poems (one poem if participations regards Video or Musical Poetry fields);
- for Video Poetry field: 2 video-clips ( DVD);
- for the Song field: 2 copies on CD.

3 - PARTICULAR CLAUSES
The compositions in other languages, idioms or dialects along with their original versions must be provided with the translation in one of five official languages of the prize: Italian, Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.
In the same way, Video works in other languages, idioms or dialects must have subtitles in one of five official languages.

4 - INCOMPATIBILITIES
The Overall Winners are not allowed to participate in the contest anymore. Instead , they can be annually nominated “Nosside Ambassadors”, be on the jury as well as take part in the promotion or organization process of the Prize.
The Winners are allowed to participate in the contest again only after a four years interval.
The Special Mentioned authors can participate again after a two years interval.

5 - JURY
The Jury is appointed in July 2008 and closes its work by September, 15, 2008.
In order to guarantee the transparency during the judging process, the secretary of the Prize provides the members of the Jury with the contestants works signed only by numbers and letters (ex. Contestant n. 27, poems a,b,c or n. 107 - NossideVideo or n. 192 - NossideMusica).
The decision of the Jury is final and irrevocable.

6 - PRIZES
The Jury designates 5 Winners, 6 Special Mentions and about 20 Mentions. Other works can be point out as well.
Among 5 Winners the Chairmanship designates the
OVERALL WINNER, who is awarded:
- 2.000 €uro;
- Nosside silver Plaque by Umberto Boccioni handmade by the goldsmith Gerardo Sacco;
- publication of his/her three poems (or of the Video or Musical Compositions) in the “Nosside 2008” multimedia (book + DVD) Anthology.

Each of 4 Winners is awarded: 1.000 €uro;
Nosside Plaque by Umberto Boccioni; the publication of 1 poem (or of the Video o Musical Compositions) in the “Nosside 2008” Multimedia Anthology.

Each of 6 Special Mentioned authors is awarded: 500 €uro;
Nosside Plaque; the publication of 1 poetry (or of the Video or Musical Compositions) in the “Nosside 2008” Multimedia Anthology.
To the Mentioned authors is given: a certificate and the publication of 1 poetry (or of Video or Musical Compositions) in the “Nosside 2008”Multimedia Anthology.

7 - MULTIMEDIA ANTHOLOGY
The Multimedia Anthology – written in 5 official languages (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, English and French) alongside with other languages used by the prize-winning participants – is edited by the Centro Studi Bosio and published by the Città del Sole Edition of Reggio Calabria.
The submitted compositions are not given back. Their publication in the Nosside Anthology together with their registration on a DVD are given no remunerations or rights to their authors.
For this reason, every contestant, filling in the Application Form for the XXIVth Edition of the Prize, binds his/herself by a releasing act of copyright for the publication of his/her works in the Multimedia Anthology and Nosside official Website. The authors reserves their copyrights for any other, successive to the 2008 Nosside Anthology, individual or collective publication.

8 - FINAL EVENTS: PRIZEGIVING EVENT IN REGGIO CALABRIA, SEMINAR IN MESSINA, POETIC RECITAL IN ROMA
The Prizegiving event takes place in Reggio Calabria , on Friday, November 28, 2008 at five p.m in the Palazzo Campanella, seat of Regional Council of Calabria.
The Prizes must be withdrawn by their winners on the prize giving day. Their absence causes the loss of the cash prize.
The Overall Winner, the Winners as well as the Special Mentioned authors will take part in the two subsequent Events that follow the Prize giving:
in the University of Messina on Saturday, Novembre 29 a Seminar on the cultural objectives of Nosside Project;
in Rome on Monday, Dicember 1, 2008 a Poetic Recital - poems reading with the diplomatic and cultural representatives.

9 – TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE
The participation in the contest implies the full acceptance of all the above mentioned conditions.
